Incase you haven't already heard, the waves down the road from Slut HQ at Porthleven have been absolutely smoking this past week.  

After battling his way past the crowd of about two hundred other photographers, our good friend Alex Young spent a while documenting the biggest day, Saturday 6th Feb.  It's not quite in the league of what was coming through at Aileen's in Ireland, but for little old Cornwall it was definitely one of the better days of winter waves in quite some time.  

Ireland has been particularly good throughout this swell so expect to see mind blowing shots from Slut photographer Mickey Smith.  The boys were well and truely pushing the limits over there.  We've included a few snippets of Mick's shots in the slideshow, but all the proper ones will be in the main surf mags shortly.

One of the highlights at Porthleven on Saturday was seeing local loose cannon 'Kelvin Batt' take a couple of the biggest waves of the day, whilst wrestling with a 20 year old beast of a board. The Board was kindly donated to him by one of the Boex brothers for the day, apparently it was the only board anyone would lend him. In typical Kelv style he didn't let this minor equipment hitch hold him back. We'll have another feature on Kelv on the site very soon with some of his waves from this session.  We'll also take a more in depth look into Kelv's unique approach to wave riding, hopefully providing some insight on such subjects as 'the advantages of surfing naked'.
