Photo: mickeysmith.co.uk Ethics Unlike many fashion businesses these days, we make sure we only use suppliers who treat their workers well and pay them a decent wage, even if it means us paying significantly more. As testament to which, most of our T-shirts are made in Los Angeles by American Apparel, the clothing company famous for their ground breaking ethical policies, including their decision to run all production from their factory in downtown LA. The rest of the production process is kept mostly local, and outsourced to select pasty powered suppliers from around Cornwall. We here at Slut care a great deal about our planet and her future, and have done since long before it was fashionable! Whether it's dropping your orders down to the Post Office on a skateboard, using environmentally conscious suppliers and production techniques, and minimal packaging. Or just getting our lunch from the organic pasty shop up the road, you can rest assured that sustainable working and putting the environment first is a top priority for the Slut brand.
Legendary Cornish party animal 'Kit Thomas' pauses to refuel. Photo: mickeysmith.co.uk The Beginnings 'Slut' began life as a brand somewhat accidentally, out amongst the nightclubs of West Cornwall (UK), back in the spring of 2002. A couple of cocky young guys instigated the concept whilst 'innocently' experimenting with new ways of getting laid. The fellas struck gold once they began partying with the word "Slut" stylishly emblazoned across the front of their t-shirts. Within hours the sex pests in question not only found themselves being offered some 'interesting' propositions; but were also literally inundated with requests from fellow free-thinkers - desperate to know where they could get themselves a piece of this already legendary cult clothing phenomenon. After being hassled to the point where people were camping outside their front door, they eventually made a selfless decision to do the right thing and put the interests of the fun loving community first. So it was, our two hungover rookie entrepreneurs found themselves plunged into 'business', supplying 'Slut' clothing to the frothing hordes. Fast forward a few years, and the original core 'ethics' of the founders continue to dictate everyday life at 'Slut'. Despite the 'work' that's seen the brand evolve from humble beginnings into this fine collection of online loveliness; it's comforting to see their team of life-loving, party-going girls and boys are ultimately dedicated to upholding company policy - continuing to "Prioritise sex and partying however the journey ahead may unfold..." Now with the ease of ordering "Slut clothing" over the internet at everyone's finger tips, fun loving, fashion loving, sex crazed fanatics all over the world will soon be starting some sort of cult that will eventually immerse the world into a 'Slut" revolution. The question you have to ask yourself is, do you want to be a part of it? |
